Nolan Roesch, physiotherapist II

Nolan Roesch, physiotherapist II, was the Connect Care launch leader for rehabilitation at St. Mary’s Hospital. Connect Care training for allied health is extremely limited. He was instrumental in organizing and coordinating training within Covenant Health and Alberta Health Services. He coordinated 10 buddy shifts and shadow days at more than six partner sites for 12 full-time rehabilitation staff members. Nolan networked to find specific like-professionals to make the collaboration meaningful.

Nolan took the extra step to partner with other allied health providers to set up SmartPhrases and SmartTools. It is common to see someone from the hospital asking him about setting up and optimizing their Connect Care.

His contributions far exceeded expectations or normal engagement for a Connect Care launch. He reached far beyond St. Mary’s Hospital to support sister site, Bonnyville Health Centre, and then extended beyond there to help other north zone allied health teams that were struggling. He facilitated individualized sessions to help those who needed that level of support and were not receiving through normal channels.

In his physiotherapy work, Nolan regularly reminds his patients they are the reason for their own success in rehabilitation. He actively listens and provides meaningful feedback to patients. He encourages patients and clients to actively participate in their care. He is quick to praise patients for their success and to remind them their efforts are noticed. Every step forward, no matter how small it seems, is moving patients toward their goals.
