Mercy Shibu, licensed practical nurse supervisor

Engaged and present with staff and residents, LPN supervisor, Mercy Shibu, does her best to ensure residents and families receive quality care and service. She’s a leader who takes responsibility for her words and actions, has strong moral principles, stands by her words and does the right thing. Her team knows she supports them and is committed to doing the best for them.

When a new resident moved in and was having difficulty settling into Centre de Santé Sainte-Thomas, Mercy went to the resident and listened to their concerns and supported them during the transition period. Together they developed an action plan. Doing this allowed Mercy and the resident to develop a professional, trusting relationship. Things have significantly improved for the resident.

Mercy empathizes with to other’s needs and will adapt to make things better for others. If she sees a staff member struggling, she jumps in to support them. Her goal is to ensure staff provide quality care and to reduce or eliminate errors. When medication administration was running behind, Mercy supported a new staff member by administering some medication. This allowed her colleague to focus on a smaller load of medications and prevented errors.
