Steven Deters, maintenance supervisor

Steven Deters, maintenance supervisor, approaches project delivery, day-to-day maintenance and other tasks with a willing respectful attitude. His team feels supported, which translates into them working well together. On projects he often brings everyone together to ensure understanding of each other's goals and perspectives. He approaches conflict openly and is solution-driven while maintaining everyone’s integrity.

Steve adjusts service delivery to accommodate the individual needs of those being served. When patients or residents have questions about a project, he takes time to speak with them and shows consideration of their feelings and needs. During the completion of the new emergency department at the Misericordia hospital, he ensured everyone had what they needed to deliver the project on time.

Steve and his facilities maintenance and engineering team repaired and refreshed the former emergency department, unit 1 East so it could be opened as a surge medicine unit in the Edmonton zone in mid- December 2023 to meet the need for extra beds which was at an all-time high at the time.

He uses his experience and expertise every day to deliver quality work at the hospital. The effort he puts into managing tasks has transferred to the people he mentors.
