The environmental services team at St. Mary’s Health Care Centre is valued as a highly motivated and dedicated team within the site and local community. Their willingness and ability to ensure the site is a safe place to live and work is continually noted through cards of appreciation from families and verbal acknowledgements from residents and visitors.

Their work consistently allows St. Mary’s Health Care Centre to operate as a welcoming place even during the heightened stress of the pandemic.

The cleanliness and attention to detail they provide has aided in keeping the COVID-19 virus from physically effecting the lives of the residents and staff. And when a water pipe burst during cold weather, the team responded quickly, moving residents to dry areas, keeping them comfortable, and staying late to clean and sanitize the affected rooms. What could have been a formidable event turned out to be a manageable inconvenience for residents and staff.

Environmental services staff are the champions of integrity and safety. They have gone above and beyond in the pandemic to prevent the spread of harmful viruses. They set high standards for cleanliness, and they take on additional roles to become personal protective equipment (PPE) coaches. This team of hard workers is an example of quality care by how they lead and take care of residents and staff.
