Rachel Meunier, licensed practical nurse

Licensed practical nurse, Rachel Meunier, regularly makes a positive impact on residents’ quality of life.

The Forget Me Not unit was on outbreak when a resident was supposed to celebrate a milestone anniversary, but his wife was ill. The recreation team and Rachel planned a beautiful surprise as the resident was saddened because he would not be able to see his wife. They decorated his room while he was at breakfast, they brought the recreation iPad and Rachel brought cupcakes and a candle. They celebrated the anniversary by FaceTiming with the resident’s wife. Rachel recorded the celebration and got some staff to sing and be with the resident. There were tears of joy on everyone’s face.

A resident on the unit has a wife with high expectations which can put extra pressure on the team. One day this woman looked frazzled and anxious. Other staff walked by her, but Rachel went up to her, put her arm around her and asked if she was okay. Rachel sat this lady in a chair by the nurses’ desk and brought her a drink. She helped the woman rummage through her purse looking for something. The lady seemed more relaxed after this interaction.

During staffing shortages, Rachel will pick up extra shifts not for extra money or because she does not have anything to do, but because she does not want residents’ care to suffer. She prioritizes resident needs.
